General description of the collection: The Edward A. Brininstool papers include a copy of a letter from an anonymous veteran of the Indian Wars to the historian Brininstool (June 1935), giving his views on the Battle of Little Big Horn, "Buffalo Bill" Cody and other scouts, George Crook, George A. Custer, Philip H. Sheridan, and the treatment of Indians. Some evidence indicates that the writer had served under Crook before deserting.
